Itinerary

Day 1: We will meet at Salen Pier House at 5pm (arrangements can be made to pick you up from Craignure ferry terminal if you are not driving), this will give you 2 hours to settle in to the house we’ll be calling home for the week, before sitting down for a group dinner at 7pm to chat through the coming week of photography.

As you probably know, Scottish weather is notoriously unpredictable so the following days are likely to swap around and exact daily itineraries could change. Otter photography sessions can also be moved depending on tide times.

Day 2: After breakfast we will go through different creative ideas for photographing the beautiful birds of the Isle of Lunga. We will then collect our gear and go for our first boat trip: we will take a stop at the Isle of Staffa, before spending the rest of the day on the Isle of Lunga photographing puffins, razorbills & other seabirds. The skipper (and Jane) will come and pick us up at around 8:30pm, and we will enjoy our dinner on the boat journey home.

Day 3: An early rise for a morning of otter photography, we will return by 10:30am. The afternoon will be spent on Lady Jayne to photograph the magnificent white-tailed eagles. We will then aim for an early dinner to head out for an evening in search of short-eared owls and hen harriers.

Day 4: A full day dedicated to finding & photographing otters.

Day 5: A morning excursion to Carsaig for a coastal walk to photograph shorebirds and try and find the Feral Goats. Afternoon/evening for waders and/or short-eared owls.

Day 6: A late breakfast before a full day on the Isle of Lunga, once again with dinner on the boat back.

Day 7: A full day dedicated to finding & photographing otters, followed by our final group dinner.

Day 8: Breakfast and then leave the accommodation by 10am.
