The Wildlife Edit Workshop

A Stress-Free Guide to Natural Wildlife Photography

DxO Photolab & Adobe Lightroom

Online Workshop
Date: Saturday July 25th 2026
Time: 10am until 1pm
Cost: £85.00

Wildlife photography is about the thrill of the encounter, but for many, the joy of the field is lost the moment they open their editing software. If you find yourself overwhelmed by complex tools or frustrated that your edits look artificial and "over-processed," you are not alone .

I have designed this three-hour online session to be a simple, repeatable foundation for your photography. Crucially, this isn't about teaching you to copy my style. Every photographer sees the world differently, and I want you to have the technical freedom to find your own voice. I am simply providing the tools and the professional workflow you need to make your own creative vision a reality.

While the live demonstrations will be based on DxO PhotoLab, I am also highly proficient in Adobe Lightroom. Every technique I teach is fully transferable to any editing software. Whether you are looking to move away from monthly subscriptions or prefer to stay within the Adobe ecosystem, I will ensure you have the tools to apply this workflow to your chosen software.

What We Will Cover:

  • The Technical Clean: Using DxO PureRAW to remove distracting noise and restore sharpness - essential for those high-ISO shots taken in the "grey" UK light.

  • Mastering the Basics: We go back to the essentials - Exposure, Contrast, Colour Temperature etc. Learning how to balance these correctly is 90% of a natural edit.

  • Subject Separation: How to treat the animal and the background as two separate parts of the story using subtle masking, ensuring your subject "pops" without looking cut-out.

  • Honest Colour: How to manage your colours so they reflect the true environment - ensuring the greens of a forest or the blues of a riverbank feel authentic, not garish.

  • The 20-Minute Rule: We cannot "fix" a bad photo in editing. If an edit takes longer than 20 minutes, the image likely lacks the foundational quality needed.

  • Only Exemplify: We only enhance what was truly there. We do not add light sources that didn't exist or change the direction of the sun.

  • Respect the Pixels: A lot of people believe their gear isn't sharp enough, but the reality is often just over-cropping.

The Workshop Structure:

  • Phase 1: The Foundation: I will walk you through my complete workflow using 2–3 case studies , showing you every step from the original RAW to the finished image.

  • Phase 2: Implementation Lab: A hands-on hour where you work on your own photos with my live guidance to help you navigate any hurdles.

  • Phase 3: Review & Critique: A supportive group session where we review the edits made during the class and discuss those small, subtle refinements that make a big difference.

  • Phase 4: The Close: Our software giveaway and final Q&A.
